Welcome to our private practice nestled in the heart of Mossel Bay! Our team consists of three dedicated occupational therapists who specialize in neuro-developmental techniques and early intervention, along with our diligent practice manager. We are passionate about providing comprehensive care to children aged 0-12, catering to a diverse range of diagnoses.
Robertson & vd Mescht Occupational Therapists specialize in delivering tailored therapeutic sessions, catering to individuals as well as groups, across a range of diagnoses. We have a strong presence in local preschools and actively engage with the community to support early childhood development. Our services extend to early intervention for babies and young children. With a focus on individualized treatment plans and a commitment to holistic care, we strive to empower children and their families to reach their full potential.
During a hippotherapy session, the therapist uses the horse to provide targeted motor and sensory input for children. This unique approach establishes a foundation for improving neurological function and sensory processing, with benefits that extend to everyday activities. Hippotherapy proves effective across a spectrum of diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, and spinal cord injury.
Our parent-teacher workshops represent an indirect Occupational Therapy service provided by our practice. The main goal is to provide insightful knowledge about specific topics related to child development and school functioning. Through these workshops, we aim to engage a wider audience, empowering both parents and teachers to effectively support children of all ages.on.
Our Mums & Bums/Tods groups provide a space for mothers with babies and toddlers to come together, share experiences, and gain valuable insights into their child's development. These sessions are designed to offer goal-directed stimulation activities. Beyond the developmental activities, these gatherings serve as a perfect opportunity for bonding with your child, strengthening the parent-child relationship. We foster an environment of interactive participation, where mothers can ask questions, exchange ideas, and support one another in a welcoming and inclusive setting.
Play. Learn. Rise is a four week stimulation program for learners in Gr. R. The program is presented in groups with each week focusing on a different aspect of development - gross motor, fine motor, visual perception and cognitive tasks. It focuses on key developmental skills required for school.
Our Activity Toolkits are developed for children from birth to 6-years. Each toolkit consists of a manual, exciting activities and materials included to help stimulate a variety of skills such as gross motor skills, fine motor skills, visual perception, sensory stimulation, etc. Our activities are packed with fun and is age specific. This is a great way to provide a child with opportunities to learn and develop important skills.
Our commitment to serving children with disabilities, like in Leolan Academy, stems from our deep-rooted passion for the community. Within our practice, all three therapists dedicate themselves to providing weekly support to these children in a group environment. We collaborate closely with school personnel to tailor interventions that promote the maximum level of independence for each child. For the older children, we strive to enhance their life skills, empowering them for the transition to life beyond school.
